The Doctoral School has launched a consultation to inform plans for doctoral study at Sussex.
Work has begun to develop a set of guiding principles which have been drafted with input from members of the University’s Doctoral Committees, including PGR elected representatives. The principles have recently been endorsed by the University Executive Group, and the Doctoral School are now seeking the views of doctoral researchers, PhD supervisors, and professional services staff on actions that could be taken to deliver the principles.
The Doctoral School are seeking your suggestions and ideas on how the University can turn the principles into a strategic action plan that effectively reflects our vision and aspirations for doctoral research at Sussex.
The overarching principles fall under the following groups:
- Celebrate the nature of doctoral research at Sussex
- Excellence and quality
- Sussex doctoral researcher experience
- Research integrity
- Employability and researcher development
- Doctoral research environment
- The Sussex Doctorate
The principles can be viewed in full online on the Doctoral School website.
There are three ways you can help shape the action plan for the Doctoral Strategy:
1. Share your ideas with the PGR rep in your area
2. Suggest actions via our short online form
3. Attend a consultation event (details to follow)
Please ensure that you share your suggestions by 30th September.
If you have any questions or queries about the Doctoral Strategy, please contact Miles Willey, Head of Research Student Administration Office and Doctoral School. Alternatively, please email email@example.com.
