Over the last seven
years, The Brilliant Club has worked to increase the number of pupils from
disadvantaged backgrounds progressing to highly-selective universities, by
recruiting, training and placing over 1200 researchers in non-selective state
schools across the UK.
As a Scholars
Programme tutor, you will deliver programmes of university-style teaching to
small groups of high-performing pupils from underrepresented communities.
There is now the
opportunity for you to join this growing community of like-minded researchers
and become a Scholars Programme tutor in 2019, supporting pupils to develop the
academic skills, knowledge and confidence needed to progress to
highly-selective universities.
The Summer term programmes run between March and June, and involve delivering a course of seven pre-designed tutorials to pupils in Year 5 and 6 (ten and eleven-year-olds) or Year 7 and 8 (twelve and thirteen-year-olds).
Through working as
a tutor, researchers:
- Develop
teaching experience in small group tutorials
- Receive
high-quality training and support
- Enhance
their knowledge of the UK education system
- Disseminate
their research to a unique, non-expert audience
- Join a
community of like-minded researchers across the UK
- Are paid
£500 per placement
